Job Description

Position Title: CNC Programmer

We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to lead programming, machining process development, and production optimization for a precision manufacturing operation in Sturtevant, WI. This role is responsible for developing and refining multi-axis CNC programs, interpreting complex engineering drawings, selecting tooling and fixtures, and troubleshooting machining challenges to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.

The ideal candidate has strong CNC programming experience, expertise in 4th- and 5th-axis machining, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. This individual is a hands-on problem solver who can work independently, collaborate with production teams, and take ownership of machining solutions from initial design through production.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 4th- and 5th-axis machining equipment using Mastercam and Fanuc controls
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements to determine effective machining strategies
  • Plan machining processes for cast components, including tooling selection, feeds and speeds, workholding, and fixture design
  • Troubleshoot machining issues involving tool wear, chatter, surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and cycle times
  • Improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce scrap, and extend tooling life
  • Develop and evaluate custom cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding solutions to support production requirements
  • Collaborate with machine operators, quality personnel, maintenance teams, and engineering leadership to resolve technical challenges
  • Create and maintain CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling specifications, and manufacturing process documentation
  • Support quality inspections and implement process adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistency
  • Coordinate with customers and suppliers regarding technical specifications, manufacturability, and production requirements
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in high-volume CNC machining operations

Requirements

  • Approximately 3–5 years of CNC programming or related manufacturing experience, with demonstrated technical proficiency valued over years of experience
  • Strong experience programming 4th- and 5th-axis CNC machining equipment
  • Proficiency with Fanuc CNC controls and CAM programming software
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and fixture design
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T specifications
  • Experience developing machining processes from engineering drawings through production
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve machining and production challenges
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes involving cast components and precision-machined parts
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety
  • Manufacturing engineering or machining-related education preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with dollar-for-dollar employer matching
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Flexible work schedule with adjustable start times
  • Primarily office-based programming work with access to a climate-controlled workspace
  • Opportunity to take ownership of CNC programming and manufacturing process improvements
  • Collaborative work environment with experienced engineering leadership
  • Long-term career stability within an established manufacturing operation

If you are an experienced CNC Programmer who thrives on solving complex machining challenges and improving manufacturing performance, apply today to take ownership of a critical technical role where your expertise will make a direct impact.
