Job Description

Position Title: Plant Engineer

Build something that lasts — and become the person who knows the plant inside and out. Take ownership of the engineering function at a growing, family-owned food manufacturing operation where your hands-on expertise will have a visible impact every day. As the Plant Engineer, you’ll work across mechanical and electrical systems, natural-gas boilers, PLU/HMI/VFD controls, production equipment, and capital projects while partnering closely with operators and maintenance to keep a 24/7 facility running safely and efficiently. This is a unique succession opportunity to learn directly from a highly experienced consultant engineer over the next 2–4 years before progressively taking ownership of the plant engineering program.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on plant engineer or experienced maintenance professional with 5+ years of industrial experience who enjoys troubleshooting, improving equipment performance, and taking ownership of projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment!

Salary: $85,000–$115,000/ Year DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily plant walkthroughs to proactively identify issues with pumps, motors, blowers, bearings, and other critical equipment
  • Oversee natural-gas boiler operations and support reliable steam generation across the facility
  • Troubleshoot and optimize PLU, HMI, VFDs, valves, and related control systems
  • Lead mechanical and electrical improvements, equipment replacements, and plant engineering projects
  • Partner with operators to optimize production rates, speeds, moisture, and product density
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors on larger capital projects, including blending and bag-line expansion initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance and support occasional planned off-shift work and after-hours troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on plant engineering, industrial maintenance, or closely related manufacturing experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities with practical plant-floor experience
  • Working knowledge of boiler operations, industrial equipment, and manufacturing systems
  • Experience with HMI, PLU, VFD, and control systems, including valves and drives
  • Proven ability to own projects, solve complex plant problems and deliver measurable improvements
  • Comfortable working independently in a lean, 24/7 manufacturing environment with occasional off-shift support
  • Stable employment history with a track record of long-term commitment; food, powder processing, welding, fabrication, or CMMS experience is a plus

Benefits:

  • Annual Performance/Company bonus opportunity
  • UnitedHealthcare Medical Coverage
  • Simple IRA
  • PTO
  • Relocation Assistance
  • Long-term Succession Opportunity

Ready to put your hands-on engineering expertise at the center of a growing manufacturing operation? Apply today to take the next step toward becoming the long-term owner of this plant engineering program!
