Job Description

Position Title: Boatyard Rigger & Running Gear Technician

Join a specialized yacht service operation where craftsmanship matters more than rushing through the next job. This hands-on role is responsible for hauling and safely blocking vessels, removing and installing running gear, performing shaft and engine alignment, servicing marine stabilizer systems, and completing detailed repairs on yachts typically ranging from 30 to 75 feet. You’ll work across multiple projects while having meaningful ownership of each job from disassembly through reassembly and final alignment.

The ideal candidate is an experienced marine or boatyard professional with strong travel-lift and running-gear expertise, proven technical ability, and a reputation for doing quality work the right way.

Pay Range: $25 – $30 / hour, DOE

Responsibilities

  • Operate a travel lift to safely haul, position, block, and support vessels
  • Remove, install, inspect, and service propellers, shafts, rudders, struts, supports, and couplers
  • Perform engine and shaft alignment and work with packing glands and dripless shaft and rudder seals
  • Perform maintenance and service on marine stabilizer systems
  • Manage multiple vessel projects as components move through repair, machining, and reassembly stages
  • Identify required parts and specifications and communicate accurate information to the parts team for ordering
  • Document work orders, upload photos, and record job notes through the company’s boatyard application
  • Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship, and attention to detail throughout each project

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a marine, yacht yard, commercial shipyard, or boatyard environment
  • Strong travel-lift experience with the ability to safely haul vessels and place them on blocks and stands
  • Hands-on experience removing and installing marine running gear, including shafts, rudders, propellers, struts, supports, and couplers
  • Working knowledge of packing glands, dripless shaft and rudder seals, engine and shaft alignment, and marine stabilizer systems
  • Ability to confidently troubleshoot technical issues and demonstrate practical knowledge in a working boatyard environment
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work outdoors in Florida weather conditions
  • Basic personal hand tools, with specialized rigging and running-gear tools provided
  • Strong reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to long-term career stability

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid company holidays
  • Paid year-end company closure
  • Paid time off beginning in the second year, including time available for sick and vacation needs
  • Additional unpaid time off available with advance notice
  • Profit-based bonus program available after the first year
  • Overtime opportunities based on workload
  • Consistent Monday through Friday schedule with Saturday work limited and intentionally discouraged

If you’re an experienced marine professional who takes pride in technically sound work and wants to join a team that values quality, craftsmanship, and its technicians, we encourage you to apply.
