Job Description
Position Title: Certified Mercury Marine Technician
Bring your Mercury expertise to a specialized marine service environment where your certification, technical judgment, and hands-on experience will be put to work every day. This onsite role focuses primarily on Mercury outboard maintenance, diagnostics, warranty service, and repair, with additional exposure to basic electrical systems, vessel maintenance, gasoline engines, and light diesel maintenance. Technicians work directly on a variety of vessels in a busy Florida boatyard and are trusted to diagnose issues accurately, document their work, and deliver quality repairs.
The ideal candidate is a currently Mercury-certified technician with at least three years of hands-on experience, strong diagnostic skills, and a track record of career stability. They are technically credible, dependable, comfortable working outdoors, and looking for a long-term opportunity where their specialized expertise will be valued and supported.
Pay Range: $35 – $40 / hour, DOE
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, warranty work, troubleshooting, and repairs on Mercury outboard engines
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and determine appropriate repair procedures, parts, and materials
- Complete basic electrical and vessel maintenance, including servicing bilge pumps and similar onboard systems
- Perform light maintenance on smaller diesel engines and generators, as well as applicable gasoline engine work
- Complete occasional mobile service calls using company vehicles to assess and diagnose vessels before completing repairs
- Manage assigned work orders through the company’s boatyard application, including uploading photos and documenting service notes
- Maintain personal hand tools while properly utilizing company-provided specialty tools and Mercury diagnostic equipment
- Stay current with Mercury certification requirements, technical updates, and ongoing manufacturer coursework
Requirements
- Current Mercury Marine certification with a verifiable certificate and technician number
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience servicing Mercury engines and vessels
- Strong experience with Mercury outboard maintenance, diagnostics, warranty work, and repair
- Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and the ability to confidently troubleshoot technical issues
- Ability to perform physically demanding, hands-on work primarily outdoors in Florida weather conditions
- Career stability, reliability, and a commitment to becoming a long-term member of the team
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with an established boatyard crew
- Familiarity with gasoline engines, diesel maintenance, basic marine electrical systems, and vessel systems is preferred
