Job Description
Position Title: Family Law Senior Paralegal
A growing family law practice is seeking an experienced Family Law Senior Paralegal to manage an active caseload and provide high-level support across divorce, child custody, property division, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation. This role will work closely with multiple attorneys while communicating directly with clients, drafting complex legal documents, tracking critical deadlines, and keeping cases moving efficiently from intake through resolution.
The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of California family law paralegal experience, strong knowledge of court procedures, and the confidence to independently manage case details in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned paralegal who values autonomy, collaboration, professional development, and long-term growth within a supportive legal team.
Salary Range: $175,000 – $200,000 / annually, DOE
Responsibilities
- Manage an active family law caseload while supporting multiple attorneys across the legal team
- Draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, correspondence, and other family law documents
- Communicate directly with clients, gather case information, and conduct client interviews
- Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings and trials, including organizing exhibits and coordinating witnesses
- Maintain case calendars, deadlines, notes, documentation, and other critical case information
- Track billable hours and consistently work toward established weekly and annual billable targets
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and team members to ensure cases progress efficiently and deadlines are met
Requirements
- 5–10 years of family law paralegal experience
- Strong knowledge of California family law, court procedures, and filing requirements
- Hands-on experience preparing family law forms, pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents
- Ability to independently follow cases, manage deadlines, and stay organized across multiple matters
- Experience working directly with clients in sensitive or high-stress legal situations
- Experience with legal case management software, with Clio experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a high-expectation environment
