Job Description

Position Title: RF Systems Technician

An established telecommunications company is seeking an experienced RF Systems Technician to provide hands-on technical support at a customer site in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. This field-based role will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mission-critical radio communication systems, support dispatch and fire station alerting infrastructure, manage radio equipment, and provide technical training to end users.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5+ years of RF, telecommunications, or related technical experience, strong knowledge of P25 and LMR systems, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex communication equipment while delivering responsive customer support.

Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain RF communication systems and related equipment
  • Diagnose issues involving radios, repeaters, antennas, network systems, dispatch centers, and communication infrastructure
  • Support USDD Fire Station Alerting systems and related public safety communication technology
  • Manage the L3H Unified Administration System (UAS), including system support and administration
  • Program, issue, and support portable and mobile radio equipment
  • Provide user training on dispatch consoles, radio equipment, and other communication systems
  • Complete service logs, technical reports, and required documentation accurately and consistently
  • Work directly with customers to diagnose technical issues and provide effective field solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, sales, and other internal teams to resolve technical needs

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in RF, telecommunications, IT, or a closely related technical field
  • Hands-on experience with L3Harris, M/A-Com, or Tyco Electronics P25 radio systems
  • Experience with Motorola ASTRO and SmartNet/SmartZone systems may be considered in place of L3Harris experience
  • Strong working knowledge of P25, LMR, RF systems, radios, consoles, and related communication infrastructure
  • Experience programming L3Harris or Motorola terminal equipment
  • Experience interfacing with third-party RF equipment, including Pyramid repeaters, JPS equipment, or similar systems
  • Experience with fire station alerting systems such as USDD, Prism, Bryx, or comparable platforms
  • Basic networking knowledge, including LAN/WAN environments, routers, and switches
  • Familiarity with LMR industry test equipment, including service monitors, tone generators, multimeters, and watt meters
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • High school diploma required, with a technical degree or certifications such as FCC Technician, GROL, or CET preferred
