Job Description

A premier national labor and employment defense law firm is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Appellate Associate Attorney to join its California team. The successful candidate will brief and argue appeals before the Ninth Circuit and California appellate courts and collaborate with trial counsel to develop and preserve legal issues for review. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled appellate litigator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is seeking long-term growth in a nationally respected firm. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and persuasive oral advocate with at least four years of appellate experience, preferably with a federal or state clerkship and labor and employment law exposure.

Salary Range: $220,000 – $260,000 / year DOE

Mid-Senior Level Appellate Attorney Associate Responsibilities:

  • Brief and argue appeals before the Ninth Circuit and California appellate courts
  • Collaborate with trial counsel through all phases of litigation to preserve and develop appellate issues
  • Conduct legal research and draft complex motions and appellate briefs
  • Stay informed of changes in laws affecting labor and employment and provide strategic legal advice
  • Engage with multiple partners across practice areas under the firm’s free market work assignment system
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects efficiently in a high-volume environment

Mid-Senior Level Appellate Attorney Associate Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active admission to the California Bar
  • 4+ years of appellate litigation experience
  • Experience briefing and arguing federal and/or California appellate court cases
  • Federal or state appellate clerkship experience highly preferred
  • Prior exposure to labor and employment law preferred
  • Exceptional academic credentials and outstanding writing and analytical skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Must be comfortable drafting/responding to discovery and pleadings, and arguing motions
