Job Description

Position Title: Application/Sales Engineer

The Application/Sales Engineer operates at the intersection of engineering and sales, effectively translating customer requirements and real-world challenges into viable pump and system solutions. This role involves reviewing requests for quotations (RFQs) and specifications, analyzing key application data, and selecting appropriate equipment. The engineer develops precise technical proposals and quotes while collaborating closely with customers, sales teams, engineering, and manufacturing. Challenges include translating complex field requirements into clear solutions and addressing the needs of both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This position is essential for ensuring accurate orders and successful project delivery.

Application/Sales Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Review RFQs, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Recommend solutions tailored to specific needs
  • Analyze key application data including flow, pressure, fluid type, and temperature
  • Size and select appropriate pump systems and components
  • Generate quotes using internal tools and pricing databases
  • Build clear technical and commercial proposals
  • Communicate directly with customers to clarify needs and scope
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives and distributors
  • Collaborate with engineering on custom designs and modifications
  • Coordinate with manufacturing on feasibility and lead times
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy against quoted scope
  • Support projects through build, addressing technical questions
  • Track and follow up on open quotes and opportunities

Application/Sales Engineer Requirements

  • BS/MS in Engineering, ideally Mechanical
  • 2–4 years of experience in pump systems in wastewater, industrial, oil and gas, and chemical markets
  • Ability to review specifications, size pumps, and generate quotes using internal tools
  • Experience with pump manufacturers, distributors, or representatives
  • Exposure to similar manufacturers such as Netzsch, Seepex, or Xylem
  • Technical problem-solving skills
