Job Description

The right Controller will bring order, clarity, and financial leadership to a fast-growing construction company that’s building big, moving fast, and is ready for its next chapter. This role is the financial anchor for an operation with multiple entities, complex job costing, active construction projects, and a leadership team that values accuracy, transparency, and partnership. Salary Range: $100,000–$135,000 / Year DOE

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations for multiple entities under one QuickBooks file
  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Maintain two sets of books: main operating company plus related LLCs
  • Lead WIP reporting, job costing, and financial analysis for active construction projects
  • Prepare quarterly financials and reporting required by banking partners
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and organization across all accounting functions
  • Oversee outsourced payroll and collaborate with the internal accounting team
  • Develop, refine, and streamline accounting processes as the company grows
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Partner closely with the Controller and Owner to provide insight, clarity, and direction
  • Assist with audits, compliance needs, and ad-hoc financial projects

Controller Requirements:

  • 5 – 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in construction
  • Proven expertise in WIP reporting and job costing
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong command of QuickBooks and multi-entity accounting
  • Ability to organize and untangle information quickly in a fast-growing environment
  • Clear communicator who works well with both leadership and office staff
  • Steady, reliable, and thoughtful
