Position Title: Asphalt Estimator / Project Manager

A growing, full-service paving and concrete contractor is seeking an experienced Asphalt Estimator / Project Manager to drive new business and oversee projects throughout the Sacramento region. This role combines estimating, sales, client relationship management, and end-to-end project oversight, with approximately 75% of the work performed in the field and 25% in the office or at home. The ideal candidate is a proven asphalt, paving, or concrete professional with an established Sacramento-area book of business, strong estimating and project management experience, and the drive to generate $1.5 million–$3 million in annual sales.
Salary Range: $150,000–$200,000 / DOE
Asphalt Estimator / Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop new business throughout Sacramento and the surrounding counties
- Leverage an established network to build a strong pipeline of paving and concrete opportunities
- Meet with customers, perform site visits, and evaluate project requirements
- Prepare accurate estimates, bids, proposals, scopes of work, and pricing
- Manage paving and concrete projects from initial opportunity through completion
- Coordinate schedules with field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers
- Monitor project costs, gross margins, budgets, and change orders
- Ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with commercial, industrial, municipal, HOA, institutional, and utility clients
- Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout each project
- Deliver $1.5 million–$3 million in first-year sales based on experience and compensation level
- Provide responsive, solutions-focused customer service
- Spend approximately 75% of the workweek in the field and 25% in the office or working from home
Asphalt Estimator / Project Manager Requirements:
- At least four years of asphalt, concrete, or paving estimating, sales, or project management experience
- Current book of business and established client relationships in Sacramento and the surrounding counties
- Proven record of developing new business and meeting sales goals
- Experience estimating and managing asphalt, paving, or concrete projects
- Strong understanding of project costs, scheduling, change orders, margins, and field operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work onsite and travel locally throughout the assigned territory
Benefits:
- Base salary of $150,000–$200,000, depending on the value of the candidate’s existing book of business
- Commission ranging from 0.5%–1.5% of sales based on gross margin
- Typical annual commission earnings of approximately $50,000–$100,000
