A mission-driven, employee-owned environmental consulting firm with over 45 years of success is seeking a highly motivated Air Quality Consultant to join their tight-knit team in Helena, MT. This role is ideal for someone who is not only technically skilled in air quality permitting and modeling but also excels at client-facing project management. From interpreting complex environmental regulations to mentoring junior engineers and delivering outstanding consulting services, you’ll be at the forefront of projects that help clients achieve and maintain compliance with state and federal air quality standards. Air Quality Consultant Responsibilities:
- Manage air quality permitting projects from proposal through to completion
- Develop and interpret dispersion models using AERMOD and BEEST software.
- Prepare air quality permit applications and supporting documentation
- Interface directly with clients to assess needs, gather data, and provide regulatory guidance
- Coordinate with federal and state environmental agencies to obtain project approvals and certifications
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development
- Collaborate with internal teams during weekly planning meetings and throughout the project lifecycle
- Analyze control technologies and complete environmental assessments and impact statements
- Maintain project documentation within ERP systems
Air Quality Consultant Requirements:
- 4-year degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related STEM field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in air quality permitting and consulting
- Hands-on experience with AERMOD and BEEST is required
- Familiarity with environmental regulations such as the Clean Air Act, NESHAP, NSPS, EPCRA, TRI reporting, etc
- Strong client-facing and communication skills
- Proven project management experience, including proposal creation and team coordination
- Ability to work onsite in Helena, MT or Billings, MT, with occasional travel
- Must be highly detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP systems
- PMP certification or PE license is a plus, but not required
- Experience with environmental impact statements and assessments is strongly preferred
