Job Description

Position Title: Plant Operator



Join a growing renewable energy operation where your mechanical skills will directly support the production of renewable natural gas. The Plant Operator will help operate and maintain an RNG upgrading facility, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment, monitor plant controls, complete preventative maintenance, and respond to operational issues alongside a small, hands-on team.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, and eager to learn, with at least one year of hands-on mechanical experience and the flexibility to support overtime and an every-third-week on-call rotation.

Salary Range: $59,000 – $66,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain renewable natural gas plant equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, replacing worn or damaged components as needed
  • Monitor plant controls, respond to alarms, adjust operating parameters, and assist with plant shutdown and startup procedures
  • Record plant operating data and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly logs covering operations, maintenance, performance, and downtime
  • Perform landfill well-field tuning, record operating data, and make adjustments to improve gas quantity and quality
  • Maintain plant tools, parts, fluids, and supplies while coordinating with utility and landfill personnel
  • Perform general facility upkeep, security inspections, preventative maintenance, and other operational duties as needed

Requirements

  • 1+ year of hands-on mechanical experience with equipment such as diesel engines, generators, vehicles, industrial machinery, or similar systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn electrical and plant operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and remain composed while responding to plant alarms, repairs, and operational issues
  • Must live within approximately one hour of the Skull Valley, Utah facility to meet on-call response requirements
  • Willingness to work approximately 10 hours of overtime per week, with additional overtime as operational needs require
  • Ability to participate in an every-third-week on-call rotation and report to the facility within one hour when called
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience, including multimeters, electrical diagrams, and 480V systems, is preferred
  • Experience with SCADA, PLC, or HMI systems is a plus but not required
