Job Description
Position Title: Office Manager, HR & Payroll
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of the people, payroll, compliance, and day-to-day office functions for an established custom residential construction company. The Office Manager, HR & Payroll will manage weekly payroll, HR administration, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, benefits administration, and office operations while serving as a trusted resource across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a polished, detail-oriented professional with strong HR and payroll knowledge, sound judgment, and the confidence to take ownership, hold boundaries, and keep critical processes running accurately and efficiently.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 / annually, DOE
Responsibilities
- Own and process weekly, job-costed payroll, ensuring employee time is accurately allocated across projects and job codes
- Manage core HR functions, including onboarding, offboarding, employee support, 401(k) administration, ESOP administration, and tax-related processes
- Monitor employment and payroll requirements across multiple jurisdictions and maintain strong compliance practices
- Take proactive ownership of HR risk management, identifying potential issues and protecting the company from unnecessary exposure
- Oversee daily office operations, including fleet coordination, vehicle documentation and maintenance, business licenses, phones, supplies, packages, and general administrative needs
- Serve as the liaison with outside IT and support providers and coordinate technology-related office needs
- Answer and direct incoming calls, route website inquiries and applications, and support company communications, including the company newsletter
Requirements
- Approximately 5 years of experience in office management, senior administration, HR, payroll, or a related capacity
- Strong knowledge of HR laws, employment compliance, and risk management
- Experience processing detailed payroll with an understanding of how payroll impacts accounting and job costing
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Word proficiency
- Highly detail-oriented, self-directed, dependable, and capable of taking full ownership after training
- Polished, professional, and warm communication skills with the confidence to establish boundaries and hold others accountable
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday and maintain a reliable, consistent office presence
- Stable professional background demonstrating accountability and long-term commitment
- Job-costed payroll, multi-jurisdiction payroll, fleet management, HR certification, or relevant HR education is preferred but not required
