Job Description
Position Title: Electrical Designer
We are seeking an Electrical Designer to support the design, development, and execution of electrical systems for overhead cranes and industrial lifting equipment. This is a hands-on role that combines electrical design with real-world application, including creating AutoCAD drawings and schematics, selecting components, developing bills of materials, programming controls, and supporting panel building, fabrication, and installation.
The ideal candidate has approximately three years of electrical CAD/design experience, a strong understanding of electrical systems and schematics, and the troubleshooting skills to take a design from concept through installation. This person will be proactive, technically curious, and comfortable working closely with engineers, electricians, and field teams.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 / Year, DOE
Responsibilities
- Create electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation using AutoCAD
- Design electrical systems and select components including VFDs, cables, radio controls and related equipment
- Develop bills of materials and coordinate the ordering of electrical components for projects
- Support the building and wiring of electrical control panels
- Program PLCs, radio systems, and other electrical controls as needed
- Troubleshoot electrical and technical issues throughout design, fabrication, and installation
- Design specialized crane circuits including synchronization and anti-sway systems
- Collaborate with electricians during fabrication and installation and provide onsite support at customer locations when needed
Requirements
- Electrical degree required
- Approximately 3+ years of CAD, electrical design, or related experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable electrical drafting/design software
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and component selection
- Strong electrical and technical troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to work onsite and collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and field teams
- Hands-on mindset with a strong commitment to reliability, safety, and quality
- PLC programming experience preferred
