Job Description
Position Title: Lead Assembler
Build highly specialized products that support critical defense and military programs. A growing custom manufacturing organization is seeking a Lead Assembler to join its production team in Palm City, Florida. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for producing complex assemblies while guiding shop floor employees, improving workflow, and ensuring demanding custom projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
The company is hiring Lead Assemblers across two specialized areas: fiber optics and complex line/wire harness assembly. The ideal candidate is an experienced Assembler III or Technician who can read technical drawings, solve problems on the floor, and lead by example. This role is built for someone who wants to stay hands-on while taking ownership of people, processes, and production performance.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 / Year, DOE
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on assembly work within either fiber optic or complex line/wire harness production
- Lead and support shop floor team members while maintaining personal production responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and assembly requirements
- Identify training needs, mentor employees, and help resolve technical or production challenges
- Improve production processes, workflow, scheduling, and overall team efficiency
- Coordinate with engineering when questions or issues arise regarding drawings or specifications
- Partner closely with the Shop Floor Supervisor to support scheduling, planning, and execution of large custom contracts
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on assembly experience at an Assembler III, Technician, or comparable advanced level
- Strong experience in either fiber optic assembly or complex line/wire harness assembly
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor employees in a manufacturing environment
- Strong work ethic with a calm, solutions-focused approach to challenges
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining actively involved on the production floor
- U.S. citizenship required due to government contracting and background requirements
