Position Title: Nursery Manager
Salary: $25–$30/hour DOE

The Nursery Manager will oversee daily store operations, staff, inventory, purchasing, merchandising, labor management, and sales while maintaining an exceptional customer experience. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the nursery business, knows how to make smart inventory decisions, and isn’t afraid to jump in wherever the team needs support.
The ideal candidate is a curious, reliable, and highly engaged retail leader with hands-on plant and nursery knowledge, strong inventory instincts, and the confidence to manage a store independently while knowing when to ask for support.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day store operations, including staff oversight, scheduling, inventory, merchandising, and customer service
- Manage weekly product ordering and proactively shop vendors to secure competitive pricing and appropriate inventory levels
- Review historical sales and inventory reports to anticipate seasonal demand and make informed purchasing decisions
- Monitor staffing and schedules against labor goals, adjusting coverage based on seasonality, weather, holidays, and store needs
- Maintain attractive, organized merchandising throughout the store and continuously identify opportunities to improve the customer experience
- Participate in weekly buyer calls to strengthen product and plant knowledge and coordinate inventory needs
- Support community engagement initiatives, including educational seminars, workshops, and relationships with local schools
Requirements
- 1–2+ years of retail management experience with responsibility for managing employees and independently ordering inventory
- 1+ year of hands-on plant, garden center, or nursery experience
- Strong working knowledge of seasonal plants, annuals and perennials, sun and shade requirements, drought tolerance, and basic plant care
- Experience managing inventory, reviewing historical reports, and forecasting purchasing needs
- Ability to actively manage labor costs while maintaining appropriate store coverage and customer service
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills with a self-starting, curious, and collaborative approach
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to remain on your feet throughout the workday and safely handle heavy merchandise and deliveries as required
