Job Description

Position Title: Wage & Hour Attorney

Salary Range: $200,000–$275,000 / Year, DOE + Case Settlement Bonus

Take ownership of sophisticated employment cases without sacrificing your life to the billable-hour grind. A growing plaintiff-side employment law firm is seeking an experienced Wage & Hour Attorney to independently manage class action, wage and hour, and PAGA matters from initial filing through settlement and trial preparation. This role offers meaningful case ownership, substantial autonomy, and the opportunity to handle high-value matters while working alongside experienced attorneys and strong paralegal support. The ideal candidate is a sharp, proactive California attorney who produces exceptional work without needing to be managed, knows how to move cases forward, and has the judgment to balance strategy, deadlines, and client needs

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 65–75 employment matters from initial filing through resolution
  • Handle plaintiff-side class action, wage and hour, and PAGA matters with full ownership of case strategy and deadlines
  • Draft complaints, motions and other substantive pleadings while maintaining a consistently high standard of work product
  • Take and defend depositions, work with experts and represent clients during court appearances and arbitrations
  • Lead mediation and settlement efforts with a strong focus on proactively positioning cases for favorable resolution
  • Communicate directly with clients throughout the lifecycle of each case and provide clear guidance on strategy, developments, and expectations
  • Prepare cases for trial while partnering closely with paralegals on discovery, document review, motions and case management

Requirements

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
  • 3+ years of substantive experience handling wage and hour, class action, and PAGA matters
  • Proven ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload of approximately 65–75 matters while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Strong deposition experience with the ability to take or confidently prepare to take depositions
  • Meaningful mediation and settlement experience with the ability to proactively advance cases toward resolution
  • Experience working with experts, reviewing discovery, and assembling supporting documentation
  • Plaintiff-side employment experience strongly preferred along with strong legal writing, judgment, and attention to detail

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) eligibility after 90 days
  • Case settlement bonus structure typically ranging around 2–3% with flexibility based on compensation structure
  • Hybrid schedule with two work-from-home days per week and flexibility for exceptional candidates
  • 2 Weeks of PTO plus 48 hours of paid sick leave
  • Major paid holidays and a work environment where attorneys typically maintain approximately 40–45-hour workweeks

If you are an experienced California employment attorney who wants meaningful case ownership, strong earning potential, and the independence to practice at a high level without living at the office, apply today.
