Job Description
Position Title: Welding Maintenance Technician
Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000/ year, DOE
This is not a maintenance role where you wait for something to break. The Maintenance Technician will be a hands-on problem solver responsible for keeping manufacturing equipment running, improving welding processes, and building smarter solutions that increase quality throughput the process. From MIG and TIG welding and custom fixturing to CNC maintenance and electromechanical troubleshooting, this position has a direct impact on how efficiently the operation performs.
The ideal candidate is an experienced manufacturing professional who combines strong industrial manufacturing machine repair and maintenance expertise with mechanical aptitude, equipment troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify problems, build solutions, and continuously improve the production environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues to minimize production downtime.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated machines (mills, lathes, grinders, and other production machines
- multitasking machines) as well as other production equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot welding challenges, conduct trials and testing, and implement solutions that improve weld quality and consistency
- Design, build, modify and improve fixtures and tooling to increase manufacturing efficiency, quality and throughput
- Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, automated equipment and other production systems
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain reliable equipment performance
- Partner with production, engineering and quality teams on equipment improvements, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience of manufacturing machine maintenance
- Manufacturing maintenance experience with strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electromechanical systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience designing, building, or modifying manufacturing fixtures and tooling
- Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, schematics, mechanical drawings and technical manuals
- Ability to use power tools (drills, grinders, saws, etc…) and some test equipment such as a multimeter
- Proficient in mechanical systems: bearings, ball screws, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatic, and hydraulic
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required with a technical degree, trade certification or equivalent professional experience preferred
