Job Description

Position Title: Detailer

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PEMB Detailer/Checker to join a growing and well-established steel building manufacturer with nearly four decades of industry success. In this role, you will play a critical part in bringing complex metal building projects to life by creating and reviewing detailed fabrication, shop, and erection drawings that directly impact production and project execution. Working on a wide variety of projects, you will collaborate with engineers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams while contributing to a company that is investing heavily in expansion, technology, and future growth. Salary Range: $60,000 – $100,000 / Year DOE

Detailer Responsibilities:

  • Check and detail multiple PEMB steel projects concurrently
  • Create shop, erection, and fabrication drawings from architectural and structural plans
  • Review drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with specifications
  • Prepare and submit RFIs for missing or conflicting information
  • Coordinate with suppliers, engineers, customers, and internal teams
  • Update drawings based on approvals and revisions
  • Ensure timely release of shop drawings to meet fabrication schedules
  • Verify corrections made by Detailers before drawings are released for production
  • Understand fabrication methods for built-up and hot-rolled steel members

Detailer Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of PEMB detailing and checking experience, with 7+ years preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication, structural drawings, and industry standards
  • Experience with MBS software is preferred
  • Familiarity with ABIS software
  • Understanding of ASTM, ASME, and PFI codes and standards
  • Knowledge of welding procedures, coatings/paint systems, heat treatments, and non-destructive testing methods
  • Experience with structural steel connections and member sizing is preferred
  • Experience with Tekla is preferred
