Job Description
Position Title: Compactor Repair Technician
The Compactor Repair Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and servicing compactors, balers, and digesters for commercial and industrial clients. This position involves field service maintenance within a 2-3 hour radius of Aurora, IL, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and effectively. Technicians face challenges such as working outdoors in various weather conditions and addressing complex repair tasks on equipment that handles waste materials. A strong foundation in mechanical and hydraulic systems is essential, along with a commitment to quality service. This role is suited for individuals who thrive in hands-on environments and are eager to contribute to a team-oriented culture.
Salary Range: $30.00 – $35.00 / Hour DOE
Compactor Repair Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on compactors, balers, and digesters at customer locations
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Install and remove waste equipment as needed
- Fabricate and repair metal parts using welding techniques
- Lift and handle equipment parts weighing 50-75 lbs
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during service
- Utilize software for logging service hours and job details
Compactor Repair Technician Requirements:
- Experience in maintenance of balers, digesters, and/or compactors
- Knowledge of directional valves, motors, and hydraulics
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical components such as motor starters and timers
- Familiarity with PLCs and other control systems
- Experience in repairing dock lifts or heavy equipment is beneficial
- Ability to work with various types of equipment without being solely a parts changer
- Welding skills, particularly stick welding, is preferred
