Position Title: Land Use Litigation Attorney
The Land Use Litigation Attorney plays a crucial role in navigating complex legal challenges related to land use issues. This position involves working closely with property owners and local government agencies across multiple jurisdictions in Los Angeles County. The attorney will be responsible for preparing and responding to various legal briefs, including petitions for writ of mandate. Candidates should be prepared to engage with administrative hearings and manage a diverse range of cases, which vary in size and complexity. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and a collaborative mindset, contributing to a supportive work environment. Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000 / Year DOE
Land Use Litigation Attorney Responsibilities:
- Prepare petitions for writ of mandate and respond to legal challenges
- Draft and review opening briefs (applicant side) and reply briefs (respondent side)
- Review administrative records and environmental reports prepared by local government agencies
- Participate in administrative hearings and manage interactions with various stakeholders
- Work on matters involving property owners, primarily in residential contexts
- Familiarize with laws and regulations across multiple cities in Los Angeles County
- Encourage client development while maintaining a focus on case management
Land Use Litigation Attorney Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in Land Use Litigation, open to candidates with up to 20 years of experience
- Experience preparing petitions for writ of mandate and responding to legal briefs
- Proficiency in reviewing administrative records similar to appellate briefs
- Active Bar membership in California
- Experience with administrative hearings is preferred
- Ability to bring clients is preferred
