Position Title: Freight Booking Agent
This role serves as a pivotal link in the supply chain, responsible for the scheduling, booking, and tracking of goods and services from origin to destination. The Freight Booking Agent plays a critical role in ensuring timely and efficient transportation solutions. This position requires adept management of multiple high-volume shipments under tight deadlines, making strong customer service skills essential. The successful candidate will navigate the complexities of logistics and freight forwarding, contributing to the overall success of the organization. Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving are key attributes for thriving in this dynamic environment.
Freight Booking Agent Responsibilities:
- Booking and scheduling transportation carriers and arranging bookings for shipments
- Planning and monitoring the daily movement of goods, including tracking and troubleshooting potential delays
- Preparing and verifying crucial documentation, such as Bills of Lading, invoices, and customs paperwork
- Serving as the primary contact for clients regarding shipment status and resolving complaints
- Identifying and resolving route inefficiencies or shipping delays
- Preparing logistics reports, including on-time delivery reports
- Planning routes and coordinating with dispatch and warehouse teams
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance of transportation providers
- Maintaining good customer relations and resolving customer complaints
- Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
Freight Booking Agent Requirements:
- Fluency in English, with the ability to read and write in Spanish
- Three years of experience in a customer service role within logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation
- Ability to manage multiple high-volume shipments under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with customers, carriers, and internal teams is preferred
- Prior experience in the steam ship liner industry is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is preferred
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills is preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred
- Experience with competitor import/export companies or servicing the cruise ship industry is preferred
- Customer service experience in logistics or marine industries is preferred
