Position Title: Remote Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in driving project-based sales of industrial pump systems by engaging with engineers, EPC firms, and end users. This position is responsible for leading early-stage technical discussions and influencing specifications while managing the sales process from opportunity identification to project award. The individual must possess strong technical acumen and relationship-building skills to effectively translate complex application needs into competitive solutions. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to client engagement and a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of pump systems. The candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure that customer requirements are met effectively, making this a dynamic and impactful position within the organization.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000 / Year DOE

Remote Sales Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with engineering firms, EPCs, plant engineers, and end users to drive specification and adoption of pump solutions
  • Engage early in the project lifecycle to influence design decisions and position solutions
  • Lead technical discovery conversations to understand application requirements
  • Translate customer needs into high-level system concepts and coordinate with Applications Engineering for detailed pump selection and quoting
  • Own the sales cycle from initial engagement through project award, including strategy, positioning, and closing
  • Analyze RFQs, project specifications, and drawings to identify opportunities and define winning approaches
  • Conduct technical presentations and product discussions with engineers, operations teams, and procurement stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal engineering, applications, and manufacturing teams to ensure solutions are feasible and competitive
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the sales process, addressing objections and aligning solutions with customer requirements
  • Attend 8-10 trade shows annually

Remote Sales Engineer Requirements:

  • 3+ years of B2B experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or engineering roles within pumps, fluid handling, or industrial equipment
  • Ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions
  • Experience explaining different pumps and their value to client problems
  • Understanding of pumps, valves, compressors, or fluid systems
  • Ability to read specifications, drawings, and P&IDs
  • Experience with project-based, consultative sales cycles
  • Strong communication skills with non-sales buyers
  • Must have a BS in Engineering, ideally mechanical
  • Ability to engage with clients in their technical language
  • Must be a likable person who can work with a variety of personalities
