Job Description
Position Title: Project Superintendent
The Project Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring that field operations align with contractual obligations, completing projects within specified timelines and budgets while maintaining high-quality standards. This position oversees the management and training of foreman and trades personnel, fostering an environment that emphasizes excellent project delivery. Effective communication with project owners, team members, and the community is essential to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring flexibility to adapt to varying weather conditions and physical demands. The ideal candidate will contribute to a values-driven culture focused on teamwork and community impact.
Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000 / Year DOE
Project Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Review and understand documents regarding buildability
- Create, edit, manage, and communicate the overall project schedule with all stakeholders
- Plan and manage site logistics regarding trailers, utilities, storage, safety, security, SWPP, and signage
- Manage all field labor and task coding for work performed by Watson-Forsberg employees
- Maintain a daily log of activities on the job site
- Communicate with the project team regarding ASIs, RFIs, and material submittals
- Oversee quality control planning and assign responsibilities regarding the work being performed
- Review the project work to verify it complies with the contract scope
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
- Ensure subcontractors correct all deficiencies identified by the project team
- Identify and communicate project requirements for safety, health, and environmental standards
- Update and implement a site orientation process for all workers on site
- Walk the project daily to monitor activities, safety practices, and plan future tasks
- Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate work to be performed safely
- Schedule and coordinate with OSHA and Watson-Forsberg safety consultants
- Ensure the job site is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition
- Document and manage safety concerns and incidents
- Follow cost control procedures throughout the project
- Maintain an accurate job site file system, ensuring proper documentation and archiving at project completion
- Coordinate miscellaneous activities such as special permits, material ordering, and warranty issues
- Maintain on-site relations with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure total customer satisfaction
Project Superintendent Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a project superintendent within commercial projects, ideally multifamily and mixed-use
- Experience managing field labor and subcontractors
- Experience providing safety talks, site orientation, and project requirements to the on-site team
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and climb scaffolds
- Strong communication skills with diverse individuals daily
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong work ethic with a values-driven approach to work and relationships
- Multi-family construction experience is preferred
- Experience with MS Project and Procore is preferred
- OSHA certifications are preferred
