Position Title: Senior Associate, Labor and Employment, Irvine

The Senior Associate position offers a unique opportunity to defend employers in various labor and employment matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage claims. This role encompasses all phases of litigation, from drafting pleadings to managing discovery and conducting depositions. The position requires collaboration with clients and firm leadership to provide strategic legal counsel and manage agency responses. Mentorship of junior associates is also a key aspect, contributing to overall case strategy and execution. The firm values a mature and responsible work ethic while fostering a supportive and friendly environment.

Salary Range: $250,000 – $300,000 / Year DOE

Senior Associate, Labor and Employment Responsibilities:

  • Litigate issues such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage/hour claims
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal documents
  • Handle written discovery, including requests and responses
  • Conduct legal research on employment law
  • Prepare deposition outlines
  • Attend depositions, mediations, and hearings
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Respond to EEOC and CRD complaints
  • Draft position statements
  • Communicate with government agencies
  • Advise employers on HR and compliance issues
  • Assist with terminations and investigations
  • Provide day-to-day legal guidance
  • Collaborate with partners on case strategy
  • Mentor junior associates

Senior Associate, Labor and Employment Requirements:

  • Must have 7+ years of experience in defense-side litigation in labor and employment law
  • Must have experience defending management in litigation
  • Experience with handling discovery, including taking and defending depositions
  • Strong background in drafting pleadings, motions, and legal documents
  • Experience preparing and arguing motions and appearing at administrative conferences
  • JD degree
  • Admitted to practice in California
  • Bilingual with Spanish is preferred
