Position Title: Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine)

The role of a Primary Care Physician in Family Medicine is essential for delivering comprehensive healthcare to diverse patient populations. This position requires a commitment to improving the health and wellness of Native American communities while navigating the unique challenges of a community-based medical practice. The physician will be responsible for evaluating patient needs, determining specialist referrals, and ensuring high-quality care through documentation and adherence to medical protocols. A collaborative environment fosters teamwork across various healthcare disciplines, enhancing the overall patient experience. Candidates must demonstrate cultural respect and sensitivity, particularly towards Native American traditions and values.

Salary Range: $233,000 – $320,000 / Year DOE

Primary Care Physician Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary care to patients within the scope of licensure
  • Evaluate patients and determine if specialist referrals are needed
  • Document visits and care in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement programs
  • Follow clinic policies, medical protocols, and regulatory standards
  • Address patient questions, concerns, and complaints when needed
  • Supervise mid-level providers such as Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners
  • Maintain professional relationships with staff and patients
  • Follow all healthcare regulations (OSHA, CLIA, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Primary Care Physician Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of community-based medical practice experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of public health systems and managed care
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations and be respectful of Native American culture
  • MD or DO degree
  • Active California medical license
  • Board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (must obtain certification within 1 year)
  • Current CPR certification and DEA registration
  • Flexibility in work hours is preferred
