Position Title: Carrier Sales Representative

The Carrier Sales Representative is essential to the brokerage team, focusing on sourcing, securing, and managing carrier capacity to enhance freight operations. This role emphasizes building and maintaining strong partnerships with carriers to ensure superior service and competitive pricing for customers. Daily responsibilities include engaging with carriers, coordinating loads, negotiating rates, and tracking shipments from pickup to delivery. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Candidates should be prepared to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Carrier Sales Representative Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and secure carriers and drivers for available freight
  • Manage daily dispatch operations and communicate shipment details to carriers
  • Track shipments from pickup through delivery, providing updates to internal teams and customers
  • Collect and verify carrier documentation for timely shipment closeout and billing
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with carriers
  • Collaborate with Account Managers for operational support and customer updates
  • Generate new carrier leads and onboard qualified partners
  • Proactively identify and resolve shipment or service issues

Carrier Sales Representative Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, 3PL, or freight brokerage, with 3+ years preferred
  • Strong understanding of transportation, including carrier regulations and best practices
  • Knowledge of truckload shipping, lanes, and freight pricing/margins
  • Familiarity with carrier networks and trucking operations
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ideally McLeod
  • Analytical thinker with strong mathematical aptitude for pricing and rate analysis
  • Comfortable negotiating truckload rates with carriers
  • Professional phone presence and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to grow and maintain a reliable carrier network
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
