Job Description

Position Title: Litigation Paralegal

Salary Range: $70,000–$75,000 / Year, DOE

This is an opportunity for an experienced litigation professional who knows how to stay three steps ahead. A well-established, full-service law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to serve in a dual paralegal and legal assistant capacity, supporting a team of attorneys handling sophisticated defense-side matters including environmental litigation, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, military housing, and complex commercial disputes. This role will own critical case details from discovery and medical record management to court filings, document preparation and trial support, while maintaining approximately 60 billable hours per month. The ideal candidate is a seasoned defense litigation professional who is exceptionally organized, polished, and proactive, with the judgment to anticipate what attorneys need before they have to ask. This team needs someone who communicates constantly, thrives under pressure and takes real ownership of deadlines, details and case progression.

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple attorneys across active defense litigation matters while keeping case priorities, deadlines and deliverables organized
  • Manage discovery, eDiscovery, document review and medical record follow-up, including summarizing medical records when needed
  • Draft, proofread, and format legal documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Handle calendaring, state and federal court filings, subpoenas and other litigation-related administrative responsibilities
  • Proactively communicate case status, outstanding items, and next steps to attorneys without requiring follow-up
  • Track and enter billable time daily while maintaining approximately 60 billable hours per month
  • Assist with trial preparation and travel to trials as needed, typically once or twice per year

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of litigation paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred, with strong candidates possessing 3+ years considered
  • Defense-side litigation experience and hands-on trial experience required
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures, discovery, eDiscovery, and document review
  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required, with 10+ years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills and working proficiency with Excel, including formulas, and Outlook
  • Exceptional organization, time management, proofreading, and communication skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel for trial support and work additional hours during trial preparation or critical filing periods

Benefits

  • Medical coverage available immediately with multiple PPO plan options and the firm covering a significant portion of employee premiums
  • 21 days of PTO for employees with less than five years of service, increasing with tenure, plus 10 paid holidays
  • 401(k) eligibility upon hire with employer matching available after one year and increasing based on tenure
  • Profit-sharing contributions through the 401(k) plan
  • Annual bonus opportunities based on tenure and performance, along with annual merit reviews and raises
  • Complimentary parking, backup care benefits through Bright Horizons and free financial advising through CAPTRUST
