Position Title: Fleet Mechanic

A Fleet Mechanic is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of a diverse fleet of trucks and machinery. This role demands a self-starter with a keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety protocols. The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for performing thorough maintenance and repairs, ensuring that all equipment is ready for job site use. Challenges include managing the inventory of parts and maintaining organized records of repairs and maintenance. Salary Range: $30 – $35 / Hour DOE

Fleet Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough maintenance on all trucks, machinery, and equipment to ensure readiness for job site travel and usage
  • Inspect engines, machines, transmissions, etc., and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them promptly
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
  • Undertake other related duties in the yard as assigned
  • Keep records/logs of work and report on issues

Fleet Mechanic Requirements:

  • 5+ years as a mechanic with gas and diesel equipment and heavy equipment experience, such as skid steers, excavators, or crane trucks
  • Highly mechanically inclined, capable of performing general repairs and maintenance
  • Basic Excel use and generally tech-savvy
  • Experience in a construction, utility, or tree trimming company
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Very good communication skills and ability to work with a team
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • A high school diploma is preferred
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is a definite plus
  • A former mechanic is preferred
  • Bilingual is a huge plus
  • A license is preferred
