Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Supply Chain Lead who will build structure, optimize purchasing, and take ownership of inventory strategy within a growing industrial operation in Houston, TX. This role combines international purchasing, ERP-driven inventory management, and team leadership. You will oversee staff while improving processes, reducing supplier count, and strengthening cost controls across a multi-location business. We are looking for a mid-career leader who understands how purchasing directly impacts inventory performance, margin, and operational efficiency, someone confident enough to drive change and practical enough to roll up their sleeves and execute.

Supply Chain Lead Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of 5 direct reports
  • Oversee domestic and international purchasing, including supplier negotiations and contract management
  • Manage raw material, stock product, and consumables procurement
  • Optimize inventory levels, improve turns, and establish clear min/max and reorder point strategies
  • Evaluate and reduce supplier base; build and manage an approved supplier program
  • Approve and oversee 10–20 purchase orders daily within ERP
  • Monitor lead times, delivery schedules, and resolve PO discrepancies
  • Manage international freight forwarders and improve cost efficiency
  • Record and validate landed costs within ERP, including international components
  • Establish and improve item numbers, product groups, and descriptions within ERP
  • Analyze spend, sales data, and inventory performance to improve buying strategy
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and inventory teams to drive alignment
  • Support ISO-aligned supply system improvements and process standardization

Supply Chain Lead Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in industrial purchasing
  • Demonstrated understanding of the connection between purchasing strategy and inventory performance
  • Experience with international purchasing
  • Prior supervisory experience within a purchasing or supply chain team
  • ERP experience, including item setup, product grouping, and purchase order processing
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to analyze spend data and improve supplier strategy
  • Strong negotiation skills and sound business judgment
  • Comfortable working on-site five days per week
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; CPIM or similar certification highly valued

Benefits:

  • Discretionary performance bonus potential
  • Annual performance reviews and salary increases
  • PTO that increases with tenure
  • Medical benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Monthly car allowance plus fuel card and corporate expense card
  • Growth opportunity as the organization expands and potentially merges multiple entities

This is a high-impact role in a growing organization that needs a decisive, efficient, and collaborative leader who can modernize supply chain processes and elevate performance. If you thrive in environments where ownership is expected and improvement is the mandate, we encourage you to apply and take the lead. #LI-AG1
