A well-established civil engineering firm is hiring a Project Manager for its Chino, CA team. The Project Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing all phases of fuel system projects, from initial planning to final closeout. This position involves ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between clients, engineers, field teams, and regulatory agencies, effectively managing schedules, budgets, and performance to deliver projects efficiently and on time. Candidates must be self-starters who can navigate challenges independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 / Year DOE

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned fuel system projects from planning through closeout, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to verify system design and functionality of tanks, pumps, piping, filtration, dispensers, and monitoring components
  • Coordinate with field engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure precise installation, testing, and integration of fuel system components
  • Serve as the liaison between engineering, procurement, and field operations teams
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, or software issues within fueling systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution
  • Oversee system commissioning, calibration, and performance testing of fuel handling and dispensing systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, integrating construction phases, material deliveries, and testing milestones
  • Coordinate labor and equipment allocation to maintain project timelines and cost efficiency
  • Work closely with purchasing teams to order pumps, sensors, control panels, piping, and fittings according to specification and lead time requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Track project budgets, labor hours, and material costs to maintain profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Enforce company and job-specific safety procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and site-specific requirements

Project Manager Requirements:

  • Must have 2+ years of experience as a Project Manager within the construction industry; experience with fuel systems and commercial projects is ideal but not required.
  • Experience with large scale general contractor work.
  • Experience managing extensive paperwork and compliance documentation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience leading construction projects from start to finish.
  • Proficient in budget management, cost tracking, and change order control.
  • Strong background in scheduling, resource allocation, and timeline forecasting.
  • Skilled at managing subcontractors, field crews, and vendors to meet performance standards.
  • Knowledge of contract management and ability to negotiate scope, cost, and timelines effectively.
  • Estimating experience preferred
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as NFPA 30, API, PEI RP1200, UL, and EPA regulations preferred
  • Understanding of engineering aspects related to underground and above-ground fuel tanks, storage tanks, and fuel systems for industrial clients preferred
  • Understanding of fuel system components, including tanks, pumps, piping, valves, filtration, dispensers, sensors, leak detection, and control systems preferred
