A company dedicated to fine art, antiques, and jewelry is seeking a Jewelry Category Manager for its team in New Orleans. The Jewelry Category Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing the success and profitability of the jewelry business. This position involves analyzing performance metrics, defining strategic sales initiatives, and increasing brand visibility. It serves as a vital link between Sales, Marketing, and the jewelry inventory, shaping category positioning and identifying growth opportunities. The manager will support the sales team with valuable insights and content that enhance customer engagement. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments. A strong passion for jewelry and a deep understanding of the market are essential for success in this position.
Jewelry Category Manager Responsibilities:
- Monitor competitor strategies, pricing, and market activities to strengthen differentiation and optimize selling strategies
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to source exceptional pieces aligned with client demand and emerging trends
- Lead pricing analysis and provide recommendations to maintain competitiveness across key jewelry categories
- Partner with Marketing to develop category positioning, promotional strategies, content, and social media opportunities
- Manage custom jewelry requests from clients, guiding design and production with vendors and Sales Consultants
- Generate and analyze regular inventory and performance reports, recommending acquisitions based on sales data, seasonal demand, and inventory gaps
- Equip Sales Consultants with high-impact selling tools, including product insights, competitive positioning, and cross-selling opportunities
- Oversee inventory logistics, including repairs, shipping, RTV, show support, armored shipments, and international movement
- Co-lead jewelry education sessions 2–3 times per week to onboard and upskill Sales Consultants on new and existing pieces
- Deliver monthly presentations and training on jewelry-related topics such as inventory, systems, and category trends
- Provide general sales and administrative support related to jewelry operations
- Lead jewelry preparations for trade shows, including reporting, inventory planning, client history review, and support for home visit events
- Collaborate daily across departments regarding jewelry inventory planning, sales insights, and marketing initiatives
- Engage regularly with clients on jewelry acquisitions and custom design
- Engage regularly with vendors regarding sourcing, pricing, invoicing, and fulfillment
- Offer advice around ad placement and approach
- Propose new ideas for growing jewelry sales once familiar with the collection
Jewelry Category Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–5 years’ experience in marketing, sales, or category/merchandise management required
- Confident communication and presentation skills
- Jewelry categorizing experience is essential
- Collaborative mindset is necessary for working across various departments
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients
- Passion for and deep knowledge of jewelry
- Ability to communicate knowledge effectively to Sales representatives and clients in an educational and trustworthy manner
- Proactive with a high level of drive to succeed
- Team player who is willing to assist others
- GIA certification strongly preferred.
- Salesforce reporting/analytics experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with on-camera selling (TV, video, social) preferred
