Job Description
The Director of Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in operations management, particularly within the warehousing and supply chain sectors. The Director will be responsible for overseeing a large team, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Challenges may arise from managing a diverse workforce and implementing new operational strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
Director of Operations Responsibilities:
- Achieve operational objectives by contributing to strategic plans and reviews, preparing action plans, and implementing productivity and quality standards
- Oversee planning and forecasting to meet or exceed approved operational plans
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for product handling and inventory management
- Analyze workflow and implement changes to enhance operational efficiencies
- Establish and maintain customer relationships to identify growth opportunities
- Manage communication across various departments to ensure coordinated efforts
- Maintain a culture of safety and compliance with OSHA regulations
- Motivate and lead a team of managers and supervisors, ensuring adherence to company policies
- Ensure staff have access to necessary tools and equipment for safe operations
Director of Operations Requirements:
- 5-10+ years of operations management or director-level experience within warehousing
- Minimum of 5 years overseeing a team of 20-30 employees
- Experience in operational oversight of safety meetings and planning
- Able to drive a forklift or willing to learn
- Proven history of profit and loss management
- Experience in ordering and managing supply inventory
- Experience managing temporary staff and process improvements
- Strong communication skills and ability to hold teams accountable
- Bachelor’s degree
- Familiarity with EOS
- EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) preferred
- OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience with hazmat compliance for shipping pool chemicals preferred
