Job Description

The Director of Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in operations management, particularly within the warehousing and supply chain sectors. The Director will be responsible for overseeing a large team, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Challenges may arise from managing a diverse workforce and implementing new operational strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

Director of Operations Responsibilities:

  • Achieve operational objectives by contributing to strategic plans and reviews, preparing action plans, and implementing productivity and quality standards
  • Oversee planning and forecasting to meet or exceed approved operational plans
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for product handling and inventory management
  • Analyze workflow and implement changes to enhance operational efficiencies
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships to identify growth opportunities
  • Manage communication across various departments to ensure coordinated efforts
  • Maintain a culture of safety and compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Motivate and lead a team of managers and supervisors, ensuring adherence to company policies
  • Ensure staff have access to necessary tools and equipment for safe operations

Director of Operations Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years of operations management or director-level experience within warehousing
  • Minimum of 5 years overseeing a team of 20-30 employees
  • Experience in operational oversight of safety meetings and planning
  • Able to drive a forklift or willing to learn
  • Proven history of profit and loss management
  • Experience in ordering and managing supply inventory
  • Experience managing temporary staff and process improvements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to hold teams accountable
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Familiarity with EOS
  • EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with hazmat compliance for shipping pool chemicals preferred
