Job Description

A seasoned leader in South Florida’s construction and restoration space is hiring a Construction Accountant who will own the financial backbone of a fast-growing, high-volume restoration and high-rise construction operation. This role is the engine of accuracy, cash flow, and operational clarity. You’ll handle AP, AR, payroll preparation for 150+ employees, monthly reporting, and the day-to-day financial decisions that keep a $20M operation running clean. They’re looking for a sharp, organized, construction-savvy accountant who can see discrepancies before they become problems, communicate confidently with subcontractors, and think critically about the story the numbers are telling.

Construction Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Process all AP and subcontractor/vendor payments with proper documentation and approvals
  • Manage AR, customer invoicing, and record payments for 35+ active projects
  • Prepare monthly billing cycles and reconcile all project revenue
  • Collect, review, and prepare payroll hours for 150+ employees before submission to PEO
  • Maintain the general ledger, handle month-end reconciliations, and prepare financial statements
  • Deliver monthly job cost reports, analyze profitability, and flag cost overruns
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax-related compliance
  • Monitor contract terms, retainage, waivers, and subcontractor payment requirements
  • Identify financial discrepancies, escalate issues appropriately, and resolve conflicts with professionalism
  • Input workers’ comp payroll data and handle monthly reporting through modified PEO systems
  • Support project managers with cost tracking, variance analysis, and financial clarity

Construction Accountant Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience
  • Deep knowledge of job costing, retaining, subcontractor billing, and construction-specific accounting practices
  • Strong AP/AR, payroll preparation, and month-end close experience
  • High level of organization and attention to detail, and ability to keep multiple deadlines and workflows moving
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to identify red flags in invoices, cost data, or job numbers and address them quickly
  • Proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and modified PEO systems
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts; negotiation skills are a major plus
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Experience valued over degree

Benefits:

  • Salary review after 6 months
  • Generous PTO + 6 paid federal holidays + 10–12 days paid off during Christmas closure
  • Flexible case-by-case personal scheduling when needed
  • Medical stipend
  • Family-owned, easygoing culture with zero corporate red tape
  • Team-oriented environment where people genuinely like and support each other
  • Significant long-term growth opportunity as the accounting department expands

If you are someone who can walk in, stabilize the books, tighten the process, and become a trusted financial partner to leadership, this is your role! Apply now! #LI-MB1
