Job Description

A U.S.-based arm of an international company is growing fast and adding a Field Service Instrumentation Technician to support its Pennsylvania customer base. This role is the heartbeat of the service operation: performing calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and field support on high-precision water-quality instrumentation used in power, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and municipal water facilities. It’s hands-on, independent, and built for someone who owns their craft, communicates with confidence, and delivers an exceptional on-site customer experience. They want a technician who understands instrumentation, embraces travel, and can step into a role where precision and professionalism matter every day.

Field Service Instrumentation Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on company analyzers, including cleaning, calibration, component replacement, and full system checks
  • Troubleshoot both company-manufactured and third-party water-quality instruments at customer locations
  • Support new equipment installations and ensure seamless integration with customer PLC/SCADA systems
  • Provide on-site guidance and training so customers understand and operate their equipment effectively
  • Manage weekly travel schedules and communicate all arrival times directly with customers
  • Prepare clear and accurate service reports following each trip
  • Maintain travel logs and documentation for service activity and expenses
  • Identify potential service contract needs and support upselling opportunities
  • Represent the company with professionalism, technical accuracy, and strong customer rapport
  • Travel throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding regions, including regular overnight stays

Field Service Instrumentation Technician Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of field-based technical experience
  • 2+ years of customer-facing interaction
  • Instrumentation calibration experience is required regardless of industry
  • 2 – 5 years of calibration experience
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, or analytical instrumentation issues
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and independent work in the field
  • Strong communication skills and a reliable customer-service mindset
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background and drug testing, including marijuana
  • Degree not required if experience demonstrates technical proficiency

Benefits:

  • Commission opportunities for service contract referrals:
  • Health insurance with employee-only premiums starting at $0
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous PTO + 9 paid holidays
  • Company phone provided
  • Mileage reimbursement at $0.70/mile, tax-free; rental cars, hotels, flights, and daily travel expenses covered

If you are a tech-forward problem solver who thrives in the field, communicates clearly with customers, and wants to build expertise with industry-leading water-quality instrumentation while supporting  rapid expansion across the Pennsylvania region, apply now! #LI-MC1
