Job Description
A highly respected Chicago law firm is seeking a Bilingual Legal Assistant with Workers’ Compensation experience to support a fast-paced attorney team and serve as a primary point of contact for clients navigating complex claims. This role is hands-on and communication-heavy, handling high call volume, resolving client concerns, scanning and uploading documentation, coordinating case updates, and ensuring files remain organized and compliant. The firm values empathy, accuracy, urgency, and professional client care. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong organization, the ability to manage deadlines, and genuine passion for helping people during difficult circumstances.
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 / Year DOE
Bilingual Legal Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support one primary Workers’ Compensation attorney while assisting team members as needed
- Manage high-volume daily client communications, providing updates and resolving issues
- Communicate with insurance adjusters to secure status updates and progress on client checks
- Maintain accurate records in Lotus Notes; scan, organize, and upload legal documents
- Assist with case preparation and administrative tasks to support timely movement of files
- Act as the main liaison between clients and attorneys, providing excellent customer service
- Follow procedures to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance standards
- Collaborate with legal assistant team members and participate in firm culture and meetings
Bilingual Legal Assistant Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Legal Assistant supporting Workers’ Compensation cases
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Strong phone communication and customer service skills under fast-paced conditions
- Experience supporting one or more attorneys or partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and electronic document management
- Ability to stay organized, manage deadlines, and problem-solve calmly
- Experience with Lotus Notes preferred but not required
- Personal injury experience is a plus
- bachelor’s degree is a plus
