Job Description

This role is built for a strategic financial leader ready to step into high ownership, high visibility, and high impact. A fast-growing, woman-led workforce solutions company delivering $400M+ in revenue is hiring a Remote Controller to lead its accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, manage audits, and elevate reporting accuracy across a rapidly scaling organization. This position manages the accounting team, drives month-end and year-end close processes, partners cross-functionally with Operations, HR, and FP&A, and plays a critical role in system improvements and process optimization. This is a fully remote role for someone in the Eastern or Central time zones with monthly travel to Nashville for financial leadership meetings. The right candidate is an expert in GAAP, loves building structure, thrives in fast-moving growth environments, and is eager to step into a leadership seat that shapes the financial infrastructure of the company.

Remote Controller Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Drive financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage external audits and maintain a strong internal control environment
  • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements
  • Build scalable processes and improve accounting systems and automation
  • Partner closely with Operations, HR, and FP&A to support business strategy and growth goals
  • Assist in ERP transition and system upgrades
  • Support executive leadership with timely insights and strategic recommendations

Remote Controller Requirements:

  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience in companies $250M+ revenue or larger
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Public accounting background preferred
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and audit experience
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel capability and comfort driving process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong leadership presence and proven ability to grow and mentor teams
  • Ability to travel monthly to Nashville
