A global leader in industrial coding, marking, and digital printing technologies, providing innovative solutions that keep the world’s manufacturing lines running smoothly, is seeking a qualified Field Service Technician in the Grand Rapids, MI area. As part of a dynamic field service team, you’ll support cutting-edge laser and printing technologies, including CO₂, Fiber, and UV lasers, continuous inkjet, and thermal transfer systems that are used across industries that touch millions of products every day. We’re seeking a Field Service Technician to support clients within a two-hour radius of Grand Rapids, MI, ensuring their equipment performs at peak reliability. This role combines hands-on technical troubleshooting with the freedom of managing your own schedule and providing outstanding customer service.
Field Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair industrial printers and laser systems at customer sites.
- Proactively monitor printer performance using cloud systems, identifying and resolving technical issues before they impact production.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and system upgrades to ensure optimal uptime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues with printing systems.
- Maintain detailed service records, including repair logs, performance reports, and parts usage.
- Manage on-site inventory of parts and supplies, ordering replacements as needed.
- Collaborate with customers and sales teams to identify potential service upgrades or new system opportunities.
- Travel occasionally, mainly within Michigan, with minimal overnight stays.
Field Service Technician Requirements:
- 4 – 6 years of hands-on technical experience in field service, maintenance, or electronics repair
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
- Experience with industrial or commercial printing equipment is preferred
- Proficient with diagnostic tools, calibration, and system monitoring software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and take ownership of service outcomes.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must reside within commuting distance of Grand Rapids, MI.
- Experience with laser systems (CO₂, Fiber, UV) or industrial automation equipment preferred
- Data analysis and reporting experience using cloud-based monitoring tools preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with control systems or sensors preferred
- Prior experience in military electronics, communications, or avionics maintenance preferred
