Job Description
A global leader in powered mobility and rehabilitation technologies, is seeking an Operations Director to oversee end-to-end manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics operations across its U.S. facilities. This role is central to their mission of developing life-changing medical devices that help people move freely and live fully. The Operations Director will manage contract manufacturers, in-house production, warehousing, procurement, and quality systems aligned with ISO 13485 standards. This person will be a strategic operator and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment and is someone capable of building scalable systems while maintaining precision and compliance.
Operations Director Responsibilities:
- Oversee all U.S. operational functions, including manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and inventory management
- Manage and optimize OEM and contract manufacturing relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met
- Lead in-house production and warehouse operations, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Develop and maintain processes aligned with ISO 13485, GMP, and QSR standards
- Drive process improvements and implement new technologies to enhance production efficiency
- Manage domestic and international logistics, ensuring smooth flow of products and materials
- Oversee procurement activities, including supplier negotiations, quotations, and vendor performance management
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to align production and inventory with sales forecasts
- Maintain and analyze operational KPIs, reporting progress to executive leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements across all facilities
Operations Director Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
- 7 – 10 years of manufacturing/operations experience
- 5+ years in the medical device industry
- Proven expertise in OEM/contract manufacturer management
- Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, GMP, and FDA QSR compliance
- Experience with ERP systems
- Hands-on experience with production planning, MRP setup, and inventory controls
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and project leadership skills with Six Sigma or Lean experience preferred
- U.S. passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Excellent communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills
