Job Description
A precision manufacturing leader is seeking a Manufacturing Sales Engineer to join its team in Menomonee Falls, WI. This role is built for a technical seller who knows the shop floor as well as they know the customer. You’ll be the expert who helps OEMs, industrial buyers, and engineering teams solve real manufacturing problems through precision machining, mechanical assemblies, and custom weldments. Your job is equal parts relationship-builder, technical translator, and solutions strategist. If you thrive in a hands-on, team-driven environment where credibility comes from understanding the work, not wearing a suit, this is your next move. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, talking with machinists, reviewing prints, and earning trust through knowledge and follow-through. A steady, collaborative salesperson with zero ego who can build solutions, not just sell them. Someone who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and represent the company with integrity.
Manufacturing Sales Engineer Responsibilities:
- Sell precision-machined components, mechanical assemblies, and weldments by offering customers custom manufacturing solutions
- Build strong relationships with engineers, buyers, and sourcing teams at OEM, commercial, and industrial accounts
- Develop prospect lists using industry research, trade shows, directories, networking, and online tools
- Travel to customer sites to support current accounts and uncover new business opportunities
- Review technical drawings, prints, and customer documents to support cost estimating and quoting
- Partner with engineering to develop accurate estimates and manufacturing proposals
- Present quotes, pricing, and contract terms while ensuring customer expectations are clear
- Identify opportunities to expand existing customer accounts and drive continuous growth
- Manage customer issues involving products, delivery schedules, or manufacturing challenges
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, customer service, production control, purchasing, and quality
- Maintain accurate CRM data, sales reports, expense logs, and up-to-date marketing materials
- Resolve technical questions and act as the primary customer interface from first contact to delivery
- Support overnight travel as needed for business development, customer visits, and plant tours
Manufacturing Sales Engineer Requirements:
- 3+ years selling contract machining or contract manufacturing services
- Ability to understand and interpret technical part drawings, prints, and specifications
- Experience communicating with engineering teams and technical buyers
- Strong presentation, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, pivot quickly, and work independently
- Comfortable being on the shop floor and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with CAD or SolidWorks and basic computer software
- Experience with Epicor, Kinetics, or similar manufacturing systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through incomplete or evolving information
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel overnight
- Associate degree in a manufacturing-related field preferred
Benefits:
- Competitive base salary + quarterly commissions + growth bonuses
- Company car, mileage reimbursement, and fully covered travel expenses
- Comprehensive Medical Coverage
- 401(k)
- PTO and paid holidays
- Investment in certifications, training, and continued education
- A team-oriented, grounded culture with picnics, celebrations, and genuine camaraderie
- Quiet office environment with a collaborative, supportive sales and engineering team
- Stability in a long-standing manufacturing organization with major equipment investments
- Unlimited growth potential as new accounts, technologies, and capabilities expand
If you want a role where your technical knowledge, relationship skills, and manufacturing instincts truly matter, this is the seat for you. Apply now! #LI-KL1
