A boutique law firm is seeking a highly organized and experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with a seasoned attorney in a relaxed, small-firm environment that values independence, reliability, and long-term relationships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with 10+ years of estate administration experience, strong QuickBooks skills, and thrives in a flexible environment. If you’re someone who can manage multiple responsibilities, keep things moving without constant oversight, and genuinely enjoys helping clients, this role is for you.
Salary Range: $52,000 – $62,000 / year DOE
Legal Assistant or Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Manage case files, deadlines, and legal documentation for estate administration and business law matters
- Draft, edit, and format wills, trusts, and other legal documents
- Maintain calendars, schedule closings, and follow up with title companies and surveyors
- Answer phones, handle mail, order office supplies, and maintain a well-organized office environment
- Prepare filings, assist with court forms, and ensure timely submissions
- Bookkeeping tasks including managing accounts payable and receivable, cutting checks for real estate closings, reconciling bank accounts (monthly), overseeing attorney trust and operating accounts, and following up on client billing when necessary
- Support the attorney with document prep, client communication, and special projects as needed
Legal Assistant or Paralegal Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in estate administration or a closely related legal field
- Strong experience with QuickBooks
- Comfortable working in a small firm setting with limited supervision
- Familiarity with legal systems and software such as MS Office, Cabinet, and Zoom
- Exceptional organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities with professionalism and accuracy
- Experience from a small to mid-sized firm preferred
- Degree not required
