Job Description

A leading construction management firm is seeking a Project Engineer to contribute to a high-profile, large-scale infrastructure project in Midtown, New York. The individual in this role will play a key part in supporting construction operations, overseeing technical documentation, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring project compliance from start to finish. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience on major civil projects, strong knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The team seeks a detail-oriented professional with proven career stability and deep knowledge of local industry standards.

Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000 / year DOE

Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Assist with billings, cash flow reporting, and change order management
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project mock-ups
  • Track subcontractor compliance and coordinate with QA/QC teams
  • Verify work completion aligns with codes, safety, and project requirements
  • Identify critical tasks, order materials, and schedule deliveries
  • Support preparation of work plans, schedules, and project updates
  • Manage document control, safety, and environmental compliance support
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, purchase orders, and subcontract preparation
  • Help supervise field operations and coordinate subcontractors

Project Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant construction experience, including projects over $100 million in value
  • Strong background in heavy civil projects, with experience in the NYC Metro area
  • History of stable employment with general contractors (not design firms or state agencies)
  • Civil engineering background rather than building-focused experience
  • Knowledge of cost reporting, legal/contract processes, and claims procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Procore and Primavera P6
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
