Job Description
A leading construction management firm is seeking a Superintendent to oversee a high-profile transportation project in Midtown, New York. This role will be responsible for supervising field operations, managing subcontractors, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards. The position requires a strong background in heavy civil and infrastructure construction, with specific focus on transit systems. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive local experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to drive complex projects forward while maintaining excellent communication with all stakeholders.
Salary Range: $300,000 – $350,000 / year DOE
Superintendent Responsibilities
- Supervise all onsite construction activities and subcontractor work
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and regulatory agencies
- Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols and OSHA requirements
- Inspect ongoing work for quality and manage punch lists
- Monitor schedules and recommend adjustments to maintain progress
- Oversee resources, equipment, and material allocation
- Maintain detailed reports, logs, and documentation of field activities
- Communicate effectively with local agencies, authorities, and community stakeholders
- Coordinate utility relocations and underground construction
- Integrate transit systems including bus bays, canopies, and fare systems
- Ensure traffic and pedestrian safety during project staging
- Maintain adherence to environmental compliance standards
Superintendent Requirements:
- 15+ years of construction supervision in transit or infrastructure projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Familiarity with MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and Primavera
- Proven leadership on large public works or transportation projects
- Knowledge of civil, structural, MEP, and architectural systems
- Strong history of long-term roles with previous employers, no frequent moves
- Prior work experience on projects in the New York metro area
- Background in heavy civil construction with a general contractor
- Experience working with City, State, and Federal clients preferred
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
