A leading software/tech company in the financial services space is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Accountant in Old Greenwich, CT. This role manages the complete accounting lifecycle of whole loans, ensuring accurate financial reporting while supporting a fast-paced, technology-driven operations platform. The ideal candidate has experience in loan accounting, strong analytical skills, and enjoys solving complex reconciliation problems. Loan Accountant Responsibilities:
- Process loan purchases, sales, remittance, and other lifecycle events while ensuring accurate financial records
- Perform monthly loan reconciliations with managers, servicers, and custodians, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Onboard new clients, loan servicers, and custodians to the platform while providing guidance on processes
- Collaborate with clients’ accounting and operations teams to reconcile downstream systems and validate reporting
- Utilize proprietary software to optimize workflows, enhance reporting accuracy, and support operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline loan accounting processes, implementing improvements as needed
- Maintain internal controls, develop standard operating procedures, and support implementation of accounting standards
- Participate in testing and validation of new system features to ensure functionality and client satisfaction
Loan Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with strong academic performance
- 3-10 years of experience in whole loan accounting or related financial operations
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookups, and data analysis
- Experience with loan servicing software and accounting systems in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to solve complex reconciliation issues
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and internal teams
- CPA certification and SQL experience preferred
