Job Description
A growing, collaborative family law firm in El Segundo, California is seeking a skilled Family Law Attorney to join their team. The firm handles matters such as divorce, child custody, and spousal support, offering attorneys the opportunity to manage their own caseloads, represent clients directly, draft motions, conduct discovery, negotiate settlements, and argue or second-chair trials. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong writing and research skills, confident in client interactions, and eager to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the community and professional boards.
Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 / year DOE
Family Law Attorney Responsibilities:
- Handle a full caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and spousal support
- Provide direct client representation and maintain strong client relationships
- Draft motions, pleadings, agreements, and other legal documents
- Conduct discovery, review evidence, and prepare case materials
- Negotiate settlements and mediate disputes on behalf of clients
- Argue motions in court and serve as second-chair in trials as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to develop effective case strategies
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and firm policies
Family Law Attorney Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience, ideally in family law
- California Bar license
- Demonstrated desire to work in family law with relevant professional experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle sensitive client matters independently
- Confident and professional client-facing presence with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing, research, and analytical abilities
- Experience with legal systems such as Cleo and Westlaw
- Proficiency with MS Office suite
