A leading international law firm is seeking a Remote Contract Labor Law Attorney in San Mateo, California to provide expert guidance on California employment and labor law matters. The role involves advising clients on compliance, reviewing and drafting employment agreements, handling labor disputes, conducting due diligence, and representing clients in litigation or administrative proceedings. The ideal candidate will be an experienced employment law attorney who can work independently, manage client relationships, and deliver high-quality legal counsel.

Salary Range: $100 – $110 / hour DOE

Remote Contract Labor Law Attorney Responsibilities: 

  • Advise employers on federal, state, and local employment and labor laws, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage & hour, leaves of absence, workplace safety, and employee benefits
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, severance agreements, non-compete, confidentiality, and arbitration agreements
  • Represent clients in litigation and administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, DFEH, NLRB, DOL, state labor boards)
  • Conduct workplace investigations regarding employee complaints or compliance matters
  • Provide counseling on HR policies, employee handbooks, compliance programs, and risk management
  • Support corporate transactions with employment due diligence and post-acquisition integration issues
  • Conduct trainings and seminars for clients on compliance with employment laws and best practices

Remote Contract Labor Law Attorney Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in California
  • At least 6 years of employment law experience, including litigation and counseling
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment statutes (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, California FEHA, CFRA, PAGA, etc. if CA-based)
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work directly with clients, and capacity to handle matters independently as well as collaboratively
