A family-owned general contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their close-knit team in Alexandria, VA. This position focuses on preparing accurate and competitive bids for high-end tenant improvement and commercial interior renovation projects, with project sizes typically ranging from $100K to $3M+. This is not a business development role, your focus will be technical estimating, supporting a strong pipeline of pre-qualified work. The ideal candidate is someone who brings strong GC experience, excels with numbers and nuance, and knows how to build long-term relationships with clients through professionalism and personable communication.

Estimator Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver competitive and detailed estimates for commercial TI and interior renovation projects
• Analyze drawings, specs, and subcontractor bids to determine project costs
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis using Excel and estimating software
• Collaborate with the Chief Estimator and senior team members to maintain estimating standards and processes
• Communicate directly with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to clarify scope and pricing
• Participate in internal bid strategy meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs when needed
• Maintain and update internal bid tracking systems
• Ensure all bids comply with company policies and client expectations

Estimator Requirements:

• 3–5+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor
• Strong background in commercial tenant improvement (TI) or interiors
• Ability to estimate projects ranging from $100K to $3M
• General Contractor experience is required
• Proficiency with Excel
• Familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Construction Management degree preferred but not required
