Job Description
A premier resort management company based in Carlsbad, CA, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to join their growing team. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple states and entities, with a primary focus on California wage and hour laws. You will be responsible for configuring complex calculations, auditing payroll records, and supporting internal stakeholders. They are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves diving into data, and is passionate about process accuracy and compliance.
Salary Range: $95,000 – $125,000 / year DOE
Payroll Analyst Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end payroll for over 1,300 employees using Paycom across CA, HI, OR, NV, and UT
- Configure and audit Paycom to ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws
- Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure data integrity and compliance across multiple properties
- Develop, update, and implement SOPs for wage/hour payroll processes
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to support compensation policy alignment and payroll reporting
- Recalculate and validate bonus program payouts for applicable pay periods
- Support internal and external audits by providing payroll data and documentation
- Standardize and enforce rest/meal break tracking and compliance
- Lead special payroll projects and partner with external consultants as needed
Payroll Analyst Requirements:
- 4+ years of full-cycle payroll experience with a strong emphasis on wage/hourly employees
- Paycom experience is highly preferred
- Expert understanding of California wage laws and payroll compliance
- Experience working across multiple entities and states
- Strong analytical skills and ability to audit large data sets for accuracy
- Proven experience setting up and maintaining complex payroll rules and automation logic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Strong communication skills and comfort interfacing with executive leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or related field is preferred
- Background in accounting or financial auditing is preferred
- Experience in the hospitality or service industry is a plus
