Job Description
A dynamic law firm is seeking a skilled and driven Insurance Defense/Premise Liability Litigation Associate to join its expanding insurance defense team. This hybrid position offers exposure to high-profile clients in the retail, logistics, and insurance industries, including self-insured companies and policyholders. The ideal candidate will manage a dynamic caseload, lead case strategy, and represent clients in mediations, depositions, and trial preparation. Salary Range: $140,000 – $185,000 / year DOE
Insurance Defense/Premise Liability Litigation Associate Attorney Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of active files across premises liability and insurance defense matters
- Represent clients including national retailers and logistics firms in trip/slip and fall, third-party assault, and complex liability cases
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial documents
- Handle all aspects of litigation, from depositions, mediations, court appearances, to trial prep
- Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants as part of a dedicated case team
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide strategic legal counsel
- Participate in final walk-throughs, status meetings, and client reporting
- Support other practice areas such as employment and business litigation if desired
Insurance Defense/Premise Liability Litigation Associate Attorney Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of litigation experience in premises liability or insurance defense
- Trial prep experience required
- Trial experience strongly preferred
- Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases with differing complexity and deadlines
- Admitted to practice in California
- High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and strong communication skills
- Willingness to work hybrid schedule
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and cloud-based systems
- Background in plaintiff work with prior defense experience is welcome
- Experience across employment law or business litigation is a plus
- Client-facing skills and interest in growing business within the firm is preferred
