Job Description

A leading manufacturing company in Fairfield, CA is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Manufacturing Assistant Controller to support its U.S. finance operations. This key role is responsible for overseeing cost accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Assistant Controller will partner with cross-functional teams in sales and operations to analyze cost structures, support pricing strategies, and ensure compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver with a strong background in manufacturing finance who is eager to grow into a leadership role within a stable and globally recognized organization.

Salary Range: $110,000 – $130,000 / year DOE

Manufacturing Assistant Controller Responsibilities:

  • Manage standard costing processes and reconcile the Bill of Materials
  • Analyze cost variances and provide insights to improve margins and profitability
  • Maintain inventory valuation, perform physical inventory counts, and monitor inventory flow
  • Support month-end close activities and prepare accurate journal entries and variance reports
  • Collaborate with sales teams to align pricing strategies with cost structures and profitability goals
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for both finance and operations teams
  • Assist in developing internal controls and ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policies
  • Partner with operations to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste
  • Work closely with the Finance Director and the Finance Manager to drive financial and operational success

Manufacturing Assistant Controller Requirements:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in controlling or cost accounting roles within a manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of standard costing, BOMs, inventory control, and margin analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and manufacturing KPIs
  • Ability to interpret financial data and explain complex concepts to non-financial team members
  • Strong knowledge of commercial AR processes
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or related field required
  • Experience in the packaging or beverage manufacturing industry is preferred
  • A degree in Management Engineering is a plus
  • Multilingual is a plus
